DANCE opening: Munich in Dance Mania
DANCE started on Thursday, May 11 with an extensive and large festival program.
DANCE, the international contemporary dance festival of the City of Munich, opened with four productions on Thursday, May 11: the installation TRANS CORPORAL FORMATIONS by Tobias Staab at Deutsches Museum, which can still be seen until Monday evening, May, 15. The Pretty Things by the choreographer from Montreal Catherine Gaudet at Fat Cat/Carl-Orff-Saal, started at 6:30 p.m.; the festival was opened by the city councilor Ulrike Grimm, DANCE curator Nina Hümpel, and the deputy general of Québec, Elisa Valentin.
At 9:00 p.m. the world premiere Rabbit Hole by the Munich choreographer Moritz Ostruschnjak began at Muffathalle. Afterwards the Taiwanese company HORSE performed the solo piece FreeSteps – NiNi outside in front of Muffatwerk – the performance was free.
At the subsequent DANCE opening party in the Muffatwerk, the audience and anyone interested and curious danced and partied with the artists into the night.
DANCE will show an extensive and large festival program until May, 21 with stage performances, installations, site specific performances, films and a discourse program.
